Michael S.
Army - Active Duty
University of Michigan Ross School of Business - MBA
Michael S. proudly served eight years in the U.S. Army, first as an enlisted Infantryman and later as an officer in both conventional and Special Operations units, including as a platoon leader in the 1st Ranger Battalion. This summer, he is transitioning from active duty to begin an MBA at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.
Introduced to the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation by a mentor, Michael resonates with Glen’s legacy of adventure, service, and selfless commitment. He aims to carry that spirit forward by transforming how he serves—leveraging his military leadership and problem-solving experience in management consulting while staying close to his family in Ann Arbor.
Long-term, Michael hopes to focus on healthcare, particularly improving mental health access and services for veterans. Having witnessed the lasting effects of deployment, including the loss of friends to suicide, he is committed to using his voice, experience, and business education to create meaningful change for the veteran community. Receiving this scholarship would not only support his MBA but also enable him to honor Glen’s legacy by continuing to serve others in impactful ways.
