Introducing GDMF Scholar, Caroline Myers, a spouse of an Army Green Beret.  Caroline Myers is a mental health therapist who has built a career around helping others navigate life’s transitions. Having experienced instability during her childhood and throughout her husband Michael’s decade of military service, she learned to adapt to uncertainty and provide stability for her family through frequent moves and separations. She developed a flexible career to balance family life with meaningful work, specializing in supporting individuals through major personal and professional turning points. Dear GDMF Team, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your support throughout my MBA journey and share a brief update on where life has taken me since receiving the scholarship. Over the past two years, I completed my MBA at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, where I focused on finance and leadership while transitioning from a military career into the business world. The support I received from GDMF played an important role in making that transition possible and allowed me to fully invest myself in the opportunities that came with graduate school. I’m happy to share that I recently graduated from Ross and will be joining Boston Consulting Group in New Jersey as a Consultant, where I will be working with private equity investors and portfolio companies. This opportunity represents a significant career transition from my previous service as an Army Special Operations Aviator and leader, and it is one that would not have been possible without organizations like GDMF investing in veterans pursuing higher education. On the personal side, my wife Carly and I recently purchased our first home in New Jersey, where we will be raising our two children as we begin this next chapter. It has been a season of major milestones for our family, and I am incredibly grateful for the role GDMF played in helping make them possible. Dear GDMF Team, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your support throughout my MBA journey and share a brief update on where life has taken me since receiving the scholarship. Over the past two years, I completed my MBA at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, where I focused on finance and leadership while transitioning from a military career into the business world. The support I received from GDMF played an important role in making that transition possible and allowed me to fully invest myself in the opportunities that came with graduate school. I’m happy to share that I recently graduated from Ross and will be joining Boston Consulting Group in New Jersey as a Consultant, where I will be working with private equity investors and portfolio companies. This opportunity represents a significant career transition from my previous service as an Army Special Operations Aviator and leader, and it is one that would not have been possible without organizations like GDMF investing in veterans pursuing higher education. On the personal side, my wife Carly and I recently purchased our first home in New Jersey, where we will be raising our two children as we begin this next chapter. It has been a season of major milestones for our family, and I am incredibly grateful for the role GDMF played in helping make them possible. Introducing GDMF Scholar, Brandon Moore. Brandon is a retired Special Operations veteran transitioning to a career in medicine. After beginning his studies in pre-med at West Point, he shifted to Infantry service following September 11, 2001, and went on to serve 20 years and eight combat deployments in units including a Special Missions Unit, the White House Medical Unit, and the 75th Ranger Regiment. Inspired by a battlefield Physician Assistant, he later trained as a PA and spent over a decade in military medicine before retiring in 2022. Following retirement, Brandon completed Columbia University’s pre-medical program and now works part-time as a Physician Assistant while serving as Assistant Director of Mentorship for the nonprofit Special Operations to School of Medicine. He will begin medical school at Tulane University in 2025. Brandon’s goal is to combine his clinical expertise and leadership experience to improve veteran healthcare, focusing on mental health, homelessness, and suicide prevention. During that time, he faced significant uncertainty and financial strain while navigating the transition to civilian life. Now separated, he shares parental responsibilities for his two daughters and remains committed to pursuing his long-held goal of becoming a lawyer. Unable to attend law school full-time, William is participating in the Virginia Law Reader Program, an apprenticeship under a supervising attorney. Mentored by former Marine Reserve Officer Nate Olansen, this unconventional path allows him to gain legal experience while balancing family responsibilities. William’s connection to the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation is personal—Ty Woods, who died alongside Glen in Benghazi, was one of his instructors at BUD/S. The Foundation’s mission to support Special Operations veterans in transition resonates deeply with him. Since then, our flag has undergone many changes, but it has always remained a source of pride and inspiration. Introducing GDMF Scholar Christopher McBride. Christopher McBride is a former Navy SEAL now pursuing an MBA at UC Berkeley Haas, focused on translating his military leadership into meaningful civilian impact. He served with SEAL Team 3, Naval Special Warfare Group 1, and SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team 1, leading combat operations against ISIS during Operation Inherent Resolve and later developing strategic initiatives as a platoon commander. These experiences strengthened his ability to lead under pressure, think strategically, and innovate in complex environments. At Haas, Christopher is developing expertise in entrepreneurship and social innovation with the goal of launching ventures that support veterans transitioning to civilian life. He aims to create programs that provide mentorship, workforce development, and education to help veterans overcome employment and reintegration challenges. Having personally experienced these obstacles and mentored other SEALs through them, he is committed to building solutions that empower service members to find new purpose and success beyond the military.
