Lucas Elliott Devenny
Navy SEAL - 10 + years
University of Colorado School of Medicine - MD
Lucas, born and raised in Santa Rosa, California, developed a lifelong passion for the outdoors, sports, and family. After earning a basketball scholarship to college, he chose a different path—joining the Navy and becoming a SEAL. Graduating from BUD/S in 2017, he went on to complete the Special Operations Combat Medic course, where he discovered a deep calling to medicine and service under pressure.
Following two deployments with SEAL Team Three, Lucas was medically retired due to injuries and health conditions, including TBIs and chronic joint damage. Now, he is preparing to attend medical school at the University of Colorado, aiming to become a physician specializing in traumatic brain injury care for military personnel and veterans.
Transitioning from active duty to student life brings financial challenges for Lucas, his wife Lisa, and their young son, Logan. Through the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation Scholarship, he hopes to ease that burden while continuing a life of service—carrying forward the values of courage, compassion, and dedication that shaped both his military career and his future in medicine.
