Army - 21 years of service
Methodist University - BS
Eric Jonathan Palomar is a retired U.S. Army Special Forces Medical Sergeant (18D) with 21 years of service and ten deployments to Afghanistan, Central Asia, and Africa. Responsible for the health and well-being of his team in high-risk environments, he developed a strong sense of purpose and resilience that now guides his transition to civilian medicine.
He is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences at Methodist University, with the goal of becoming a Physician Assistant focused on pediatric care for special needs populations. This path extends his lifelong commitment to service and care.
The Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation’s mission strongly aligns with his journey, honoring veterans who continue to serve through education and professional growth. A scholarship from the Foundation would help relieve financial pressures as he balances academics, family responsibilities, and the care of his special needs daughter—allowing him to focus fully on achieving his goal of serving others through medicine.
