MIKE M

Navy SEAL, US Navy - 22 years of service

Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Originally from Texas, Mike M joined the Navy at the age of 19 to pursue his dream of

becoming a Navy SEAL. Upon completing BUD/S, Mike was assigned to SEAL Team Four, where he completed three deployments over five years. In 2007, he joined NSWDG, completing an additional seven deployments, serving as an instructor for NSWDG’s selection and training department, and as a senior enlisted leader, working as a project manager in the command’s acquisitions department.

As a Navy SEAL for twenty-two years, and a veteran of multiple wars, Mike was profoundly

impacted by the veteran mental health crises. Consequently, he has dedicated himself to

helping others by sharing his own experiences, serving on the advisory board of two 501(c)(3)

organizations established to promote veteran mental health, and pursuing innovative solutions to address active duty and veteran mental health issues. Mike plans to spend the next year at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) focused intently on applying principles of innovation to further mental health initiatives.

Mike’s decorations include three Bronze Stars with Combat V, a Joint Service Commendation

Medal with Combat V, and a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat V,

among numerous other personal and unit awards earned over ten deployments.
