WE'RE BACK! For the 9th consecutive year, Team GDMF is tackling Heartbreak hill to provide scholarships for special operations soldiers, like Glen, and their families.
We have yet another fabulous team of men and women committed to running 26.2 in honor of Glen. Please click on the links below and learn more about our dedicated runners. Make a donation and help us hit our $50,000 goal for 2021! Thank you!
David Hamel is a retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant having served over 30 years on active duty. He is 128-time 26.2 mile marathoner of all 50 states, a Boston Marathon finisher, and has completed a 50K ultra-marathon. He is from Springfield, Massachusetts and currently resides in Spring Lake, North Carolina with his wife of 27 years, Gloria. DONATE TO DAVID!
Nora is already a true member of the GDMF family!
She is a distant relative of Glen's on her dad’s side. Nora is excited to run and raise funds to support her family and the cause. Her brother is currently at the Naval Academy, training to be a SEAL. Nora lives with her marathon training partner, Kelley in Dorchester, MA.
Richard became involved with the foundation in 2013 when my closest friend David received the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation Scholarship. Since then he have participated in multiple events and
road races on behalf of the foundation and adopted a second family.
The phrase "Glen would Go" is something he lives by. Whether its white water rafting, traveling or running marathons he tries to live the way Glen would, to the fullest. Rick looks forward to the experience of running the marathon this year in front of a crowd and proudly carrying the American flag across the finish line in honor of Glen Doherty.
Kelley hails from a military family. Her uncles and grandfathers served in the US Army and Navy.
Kelley’s dad has continued his family's call to service and works for the Braintree Fire Department. This will be her first marathon! GO Kelley!
